DESCRIPTION
Valentina Tereshkova was a textile-factory assembly worker, anointed by Khrushchev to be the first woman in space. After returning to the Earth, she has become one of the brightest and most recognisable stars of the Soviet Union. After 1989, Tereshkova fell silent and has not talked to journalists until the present day. The show "Valentina" is an idea for releasing her story with a unique theatrical setting that combines on one stage a choir of singers and an actress. It uses fragments of the original diaries by Tereshkova and transcripts of speeches of the Soviet cosmonauts taken from the document by Maciej Drygas "Stan nieważkości" [State of weightlessness].
DIRECTOR
Wojciech Faruga (1981) Wojciech studied at the Directing Department of the Theatre Academy in Warsaw and at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Warsaw. He directed such performances as "Wszyscy święci" [All Saints] and "Trędowata melodramat" [Leper melodrama] in Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz, "Betlejem polskie" [The Polish Bethlehem] on the stage of Teatr Dramatyczny in Wałbrzych and "W środku słońca gromadzi się popiół" [Ash accumulates in the core of the sun] based on the text of Artur Pałyga in the Helena Modrzejewska National Stary Theater in Krakow.
