DESCRIPTION

The project, the Silk Road Ensemble, connects artists from the countries located along the route that once joined the Middle Kingdom with Europe. The band includes artists from Spain’s Galicia (Cristina Pato), Syria (Kinan Azmeh), Iran (Kayhan Kalhor) or China (Wu Man), and the cellist Yo-Yo Ma. They gather in locations across the world, exploring the ways art can both preserve traditions and foster dialogue among cultures.
