DESCRIPTION
Carlos Saura takes viewers into the very heart of Argentinian music. Traditional folk melodies are interwoven with popular music, and the artists speculate on the future of this art. The film features major Argentinian bands and artists. Their dancing, singing and debating provide a fascinating spectacle to Saura. The characters move among the mirrors, which allows the viewers to have a close look at their refined, deliberate movements. The sensitivity of the director makes him the right person to bring out the essence of the Argentinian culture, its spontaneity, dynamism, temperament, hot blood, coupled with eroticism and magnetism.
DIRECTOR
Carlos Saura (1932) Spanish film director, screenwriter, writer and film producer. His first films could be classified as mainstream Spanish neorealism; his later productions are influenced by the work of Luis Buñuel. The characteristic themes in Saura's oeuvre include death, evanescence, loneliness, the way that dreams and memories impact reality, and family breakdown. Many of his films feature music and dance elements. FILMOGRAPHY
