DESCRIPTION

The world of Prince Hans von Teuss is falling apart. His companions betray him, his family is on the verge of bankruptcy, and his beloved country is caught in the clutches of fascism. The Silesian saga by Filip Bajon still impresses with the all-star cast, the historic flamboyance and the attention to stage design and factual detail. The obsession with realism, however, doesn't flaw the effect accomplished by the "Poznań Fellini." Whimsical eroticism (the iconic "poppy scene"), the dream-like atmosphere pervading the entire film and the upset chronology prove the uniqueness of " The Magnate" on the map of Polish history of cinema.
