Dark thriller pervaded with sexual tension, which electrified the audience of the last Cannes Festival. The film is set in the 30's of the 20th century in Korea, still under the Japanese occupation. A cunning trickster persuades an attractive handmaid to help him seduce and marry a rich aristocrat, whom he later intends to put in an insane asylum. The film by Chan-wook Park, based on the Victorian novel "Fingersmith", is a beautifully shot, intriguing and mischievous story of a romantic triangle and cruel revenge.

Chan-wook Park (1963) Born in Seoul. He graduated in philosophy at the Catholic University in Sogan, where, during his studies, he founded a film club. He was involved in distribution and promotion, he worked as a critic and as an assistant of director Kwak Jae-Yong. He won a reputation for "J.S.A.: Joint Security Area" that he produced in 2000. Then he presented the acclaimed Vengeance Trilogy, composed of "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance", "Oldboy" and "Lady Vengeance".
