This year marks the 10th edition of the event.

On the 30th of July, 2016, during the Two Riversides opening ceremony, we will present this year’s Cannes Film Festival Golden Palm winner, “I, Daniel Blake” by Ken Loach. The British director has had a long history with the French festival: in 2006, he won the Golden Palm for “The Wind That Shakes the Barley,” and in 2012, he received the Jury Prize for the best film for “The Angels’ Share.” Loach is also the winner of the César Award, the Crystal Globe, the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Prize, as well as a five-time BAFTA Award nominee.

Two Riversides’ Tenth Anniversary http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/two-riversides-tenth-anniversary/ http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/two-riversides-tenth-anniversary/#comments Mon, 20 Jun 2016 21:50:27 +0000 http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/?p=14624 The 10th Two Riversides Film and Art Festival will take place in Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec nad Wisłą from July 30th to August 6th 2016.

This year’s Two Riversides program includes screenings of the newest fiction and documentary films awarded in Cannes, Berlin, and Venice, as well as the most interesting Polish films of the last season.

The incredible atmosphere of the festival town in Kazimierz Dolny will once again create an opportunity to meet with outstanding artists from Poland and abroad, and to get to know their works.

This year’s “And God created actor” will focus on Bogusław Linda – an actor who has created his own unique style in Polish cinema. We will present films by Andrzej Żuławski (including his newest and last film: “Cosmos”), films featuring Marcello Mastroianni and directed by Ettore Scola – one of the most interesting Italian filmmakers, author of such films as “A Special Day,” “The Pizza Triangle,” “The Terrace.”

Moreover, we are planning “Cinema Lessons – Confession of a Filmmaker,” which are meetings with outstanding artists, among whom we will find Piotr Dumała and Wojciech Staroń. Each evening at the Small Market Square one can watch screenings of the best films from the previous season, and a concert at the Big Market square (admission free).

Submissions for the Short Films Competition are now open! http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/submissions-for-the-short-films-competition-are-now-open/ http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/submissions-for-the-short-films-competition-are-now-open/#comments Wed, 17 Feb 2016 18:23:11 +0000 http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/?p=14398 The tenth anniversary edition of the Two Riversides Festival could not do without the Short Films Competition. For years, this festival section has been enjoying popularity among both viewers and authors coming to Kazimierz to talk about their films (often their first ones).

From among several hundred works from all around the world, the program department will select several dozen favourites that will compete for the main prize (5,000 zł), as well as the second (3,000 zł) and the third (2,000 zł). The winners are chosen by an independent jury comprised of people unassociated with the film industry.

The competition is also largely popular among foreign filmmakers. Starting this year, to make the process easier, the films can be submitted via the FilmFreeway website: www.filmfreeway.com/festival/tworiversides. All you need to do is register your film on the website, upload a preview copy and submit it to our festival – all free of charge, and without the need for mailing packages or sending emails.

We hope that this will add even more variety to the program of our competition, therefore making it more interesting for the viewers and more exciting for the authors. Submissions are open until May 23rd 2016. Please email your enquiries to entry@dwabrzegi.pl.

Feel invited to take part in the competition, and see you in a few months in Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec nad Wisłą!

Two Riversides 2016: We have the date of the festival’s 10th edition http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/two-riversides-2016-we-have-the-date-of-the-festivals-10th-edition/ http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/two-riversides-2016-we-have-the-date-of-the-festivals-10th-edition/#comments Mon, 14 Dec 2015 14:40:45 +0000 http://www.dwabrzegi.pl/?p=14368 Two Riversides will be taking place for the tenth time. This anniversary edition will be held between July 30th and August 7th 2016.

This is going to be a true celebration of cinema. As every year, Two Riversides will visit Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec to provide participants with dozens of attractions – premieres, special screenings, reviews, as well as meetings with great filmmakers. As always, we will combine cinema with other forms of art: literature, theatre, and music. This time, however, Two Riversides will be exceptional – the year 2016 marks the festival’s 10th anniversary.

The previous edition in Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec was visited by filmmakers from all over the world. Margarethe von Trotta invited the audience to her own retrospective, and Magnus von Horn opened the screening of his debut, „The Here After.” Polish stars were there, too: Jerzy Skolimowski and Adam Woronowicz personally inaugurated their retrospectives. Apart from them, Two Riversides also hosted Jan Englert, Jerzy Stuhr, Grażyna Szapołowska, and Ewa Wiśniewska, among others. Next year we will be raising this bar even higher.

The 10th Film and Art Festival Two Riversides will last from July 30th until August 7th 2016. See you in Kazimerz Dolny and Janowiec at the anniversary edition!
